In October 2011, Ellen met with Principal Carrie Betti and Dolphin Club Director Lori Malhiot teacher Jim Hancock to begin working with Jim's 4-5th grade after school students using "Garden of Kindness" as a mural theme for Fall 2011.
Session 1: October 2011, the students drew their impressions of the kindness.
Session 2: Ellen, her helper Terry Morawitz and the students created a rough composite drawing on butcher paper.
Step 3: Ellen created a final composite using the students drawings and the students colored it in.
Step 4: Ellen and friends gridded the wall and transfferred the line drawing onto the wall using charcoal.
Sessions 5-9: October - November 2011 over 102 students painted the mural.
Session 10: Ellen and friends varnished the wall with 3 coats of sheercoat vanish.
The completion of the mural project was be celebrated on the last day with group pictures!
